Covid-19 – We are keeping the 2 metre rule


To reassure all our guests and staff that keeping you all safe is so important to us.

We are open again, following the latest government guidance and we will be keeping our tables inside 2 metre apart.

Whilst we have been closed we have been looking at ways to adapt to the current situation and make changes to how we operate. Adapting existing procedures and finding new innovative ways to do things to ensure you have the most enjoyable dining experience possible whilst keeping guests and staff safety our priority.

We are fortunate at The Bird that we do have the space to socially distance our tables and keep them 2 metres apart and still allow a number of diners to join us both inside and, weather permitting, in the gardens.

Our hygiene and cleanliness continue to be prioritised everywhere and we have changed a few of the things we do to protect everyone. If staff are unwell or have any Covid-19 symptoms we ask them to stay at home. Every member of staff will have their temperature checked regularly during their shift. We may ask on arrival that your temperature is taken before being seated and that you use the hand sanitiser at the entrance. We must also take full name and address details of all of our customers as part of the track and trace system.

Each table, seating and the floor around and below will be cleaned and thoroughly sanitised before and after each booking and the menus will be printed on paper that will be disposed of, to be recycled, after each booking at the table. Cutlery, crockery, glassware and napkins will be thoroughly washed as usual and sanitised/sterilised before being laid at the table as each table are ready for seating. Salt, pepper and all other condiments may be provided in disposable sachets as required.

When your food and drinks are ready they can be placed on a serving area for you to collect and return to when finished if you wish. However, full table service is available should you choose. There will be no service at the bar at all to ensure social distancing is adhered to. All service will be at your table and unfortunately you will be unable to book a table inside unless dining with us for the time being. A minimum of one main course or two starters per adult will be required.

Garden tables can be booked for dining and drinks. However, should the weather become inclement we cannot guarantee an inside alternative. We will be unable to provide cushions or blankets so please do bring your own if you wish for your added comfort. NO TABLES INSIDE CAN BE BOOKED FOR DRINKS ONLY UNFORTUNATELY.

Dogs will only be allowed in the gardens and not inside also for the time being.

We will not be opening as a beer garden or pub as we do not feel it will be manageable to ensure the safety of our customers or staff.

Tables will be available for 2 hours, or 1 ½ for breakfast and certain popular times in order we may serve as many customers as possible without comprising the safety of staff or our customers. All tables should be pre-booked on our website or by phone. Enquiries by email are very welcome. We may not be able to accommodate you if you have not pre-booked. A £10 pp deposit will also be required to secure your table.

Payment of your bill should be made by credit or debit card wherever possible.

The WC facilities will only be available to one person at a time, unless they are from the same table. They will be sanitised regularly.

All staff will be issued with PPE as appropriate and they have received full training on all aspects of the changes before we reopened.

Monday to Friday    Lunch 12-3pm    Dinner 5.30-9pm

Saturday       Breakfast 9.30 – 11.30    Lunch/Dinner 12-9pm

Sunday        Breakfast 9.30 – 11.30    Lunch/Dinner 12-8.30pm
